Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian and Maynard Police Chief Christopher Troiano have announced the recent completion of interactive, scenario-based training for members of the town’s police department.
The training was completed between March 25-28 in Maynard utilizing the MSO’s Mobile Training Center (MTC). In total, 18 Maynard officers participated.
During the training, officers were put through a series of video-based scenarios that replicated situations they may encounter on any shift. This included traffic stops and situations involving individuals trespassing. Officers also participated in an active-shooter scenario.
“The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office is committed to working with our local law enforcement partners to enhance public safety across our 54 cities and towns,” said Sheriff Koutoujian. “By facilitating this interactive, scenario-based training, we are helping officers reinforce skills and techniques that are critical to effective policing – particularly around communication and de-escalation. I look forward to our continued partnership with Chief Troiano and the Maynard Police Department.”
“Training like this is invaluable for our officers. It allows them to sharpen their decision-making skills in a controlled environment, preparing them for the real-world challenges they face daily,” said Chief Troiano. “We appreciate the partnership with the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office and their commitment to ensuring our department is equipped with the tools and training needed to serve the Maynard community effectively.”
