[ARCHIVED] Lexington PD & MSO announce completion of scenario-based training

Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian and Lexington Police Chief Michael A. McLean have announced the recent completion of interactive, scenario-based training for members of the town’s police department.A Lexington police officer participates in scenario-based training.

The training was completed between July 21-25 in Lexington utilizing the MSO’s Mobile Training Center (MTC).  In total, 26 Lexington officers participated.

During the training, officers were put through a series of video-based scenarios that replicated situations they may encounter on any shift.  This included situations involving individuals trespassing, disorderly conduct, and traffic stop. In addition, officers participated in an active-shooter scenario.

“Our Mobile Training Center allows us to bring this effective and in-demand training directly to our law enforcement partners,” said Sheriff Koutoujian. “By sharing this critical resource, we’re enhancing public safety by helping ensure officers are prepared for the complex situations they face on a daily basis in communities across the Commonwealth.”

"The Lexington Police Department is excited to announce that we are once again collaborating with our partners at the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office to bring their interactive scenario-based training simulator for our officers to train on,” said Chief McLean. “This unique training offers Lexington officers the invaluable ability to participate in real life situations that require the use of de-escalation and decision-based skills to successfully complete.  We are grateful to Sheriff Koutoujian and the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office for their commitment to regional collaboration and enhancing safety in all of the Middlesex County communities.”
