Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian and Tyngsborough Police Chief Shaun Woods today announced the completion of a multi-week painting project at the Tyngsborough Police Station by members of a Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) Community Work Program (CWP) crew

CWP crews are comprised of incarcerated individuals from the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction who are nearing the end of their sentences. Participants have completed individualized treatment plans – such as programming for substance use disorders, educational/vocational training and other needs. Each individual has been screened and approved for participation by MSO staff.

The four-man crew – supervised by an officer from the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office – worked in Tyngsborough between February 17 and 28. They painted offices, hallways and common spaces inside the police station.

“The Tyngsborough Police Department greatly values our partnership with the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Community Work Program,” said Chief Woods.  “Their assistance with cleaning and painting our facility not only improved our workspace but also saved the Town significant costs. This program highlights the benefits of rehabilitation, community service, and responsible use of taxpayer resources. We appreciate Sheriff Koutoujian and his team for their continued partnership and support.”

“I want to thank Chief Woods for his incredibly kind words about our program and the work this crew put in to assist Tyngsborough PD,” said Sheriff Koutoujian.  “We know that this program brings great benefit not only to our local communities, but to the individuals who participate as well. The pride these individuals feel in a job well done and the skills they gain as they prepare for re-entry into their community are immeasurable. We are glad to assist the Town of Tyngsborough and our tremendous partners at Tyngsborough PD.”
